Chevron Family Theatre Festival

Mark your calendars for Chevron Family Theatre Festival July 15, 2017

The Force will be strong again on July 15, 2017 when Star Wars desends on the Lesher Center during the 10th Annual Chevron Family Theatre Festival. There will be Jedi, Imperial Stormtroopers and other 16 other Star Wars characters in authentic, LucasArts-approved costumes. Children (and parents) will once again build their own LEGO droids to help save the galaxy. Take photos with favorite characters all in the Chevron Family Theatre Festival not at all far away.

Artrageaous, an art and music interactive experience for all ages, was also new this year. They have performed more than 2,500 performances nationally and internationally, and this team of artists, singers, dancers and puppeteers definitely  thrilled children of all ages. Other ticketed shows included Fantasy Forum’s Snow White, Happily Ever After-A Cinderella Tale from Pushcart Players and Alex Ramon Magic.

Princesses Live! More than 25 of your favorite Storybook characters  were performing throughout the Lesher Center, including Elsa, Anna and Olaf in the magical Frozen tent. Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and so many more favorites were available to take photos.

Presenting sponsor Chevron has once again set the bar with this year’s giveaway and all kids in attendance receive a free engineer/scientist puppet. Kids chose from a girl or boy STEM puppet and then took them inside the Center to create their own show in the second floor Rotunda. Dozens of free activities and the region’s top dancers, singers and performers made this a wonderful day of imagination and entertainment.

This year, we are thrilled to welcome DLUX Puppets, a professional puppetry theater company for families of all ages. Derek Lux, founder, creates high quality puppets to perform musical adaptations of classic works of literature. He uses digitally projected live virtual sets to incorporate modern technology into the magic-making process. Audience members can look forward to a STEM-happy experience informed by the engineering process involved with puppet design, and a social emotional learning component that teaches the power of words, thoughts, feelings and emotional awareness.
