An Inspirational Introduction

Support for the arts and DRAA’s mission was pulsing through the air on October 6, 2018 as attendees of On Broadway Gala excitedly bid on Silent Auction items and unique, one-of-a-kind experiences in the Live Auction. Incredible live performances were interspersed throughout the night and added to the electricity of the event. Young performer, Tyler Hennessy kicked off our Fund-A-Need bidding with an inspiring performance and introduction. Read the tear-jerker below!

Hello everyone! My name is Tyler Hennessy and I am in 6th Grade at Contra Costa Performing Arts where there’s lots of really cool opportunities. I also have a wonderful and supportive family that loves theatre as much as I do.

I’m here tonight because DRAA helps kids that aren’t as lucky as me get involved in the Arts.

I’ve also had great opportunities to perform at the Lesher Center in A Christmas Carol and most recently Freaky Friday for Center REP.  I think it’s just awesome that DRAA funds contracts for Professional Actors who have shown me what it’s like to be a professional while still having fun!

Because of the support I’ve received from the arts community I was so very lucky to book the First National Tour of Finding Neverland, where I spent 19 months on the road!

Please give generously tonight to help the kids and support professional Artists.

I hope you enjoy Finding Wonderland…

Over $350,000 was raised throughout the night and in the Fund-A-Need portion of the evening. These donations go directly to supporting our mission of achieving artistic excellence within the Lesher Center for the Arts by providing exceptional arts programming through the quality of live theatre, visual arts, and youth education, while providing avenues of accessibility for everyone to enjoy the arts.
